Mission of GEAR UP
The GEAR UP program (GAINING EARLY AWARENESS and
READINESS for UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS) is designed
to increase the number of low-income students who are
prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.
GEAR UP is a six-year partnership grant that will provide
services at selected high-poverty middle and high schools.
GEAR UP serves an entire cohort of students beginning sixth
grade and will follow the cohort through high school.

Project PREP
Mission of KidsPlay
KidsPlay aims to provide opportunities for youth to
learn proper athletic skills in a fun and safe
learning environment.
Mission of ASPIRE
The ASPIRE program (After School Programs In Recreation &
Enrichment) strives to provide a safe and nurturing
environment of academics, recreation and enrichment where
students are active learners. L.E.A.R.N.’s ASPIRE program
works to provide quality after school programming in partner
school within the El Monte City School District with funding
provided by the California Department of Education’s ASES
(After School Education & Safety) grant.

Mission of PREP
PREP is a program designated to support after-school
programming at the high school level. The program will
collaborate with current organizations
as well as craft new clubs based on student
interest. Academic and enrichment activities will be
the main focus of this program, as it will be used to
increase our participants' interest in seeking a
higher education.
